What Is the Gospel — and How Can I Receive This Wonderful Gift?

You’re Invited to Something Greater Than Church Attendance.

At Blaney Baptist Church, we don’t just gather on Sundays out of habit — we gather because the gospel is life-changing. It’s not about religion, rituals, or trying to be good enough. It’s about a relationship with the God who made you, knows you, and loves you.
You may be searching. You may be returning to faith. Or maybe you’re just curious.
Whatever brought you here — you’re not here by accident.

The Gospel Means "Good News." So What’s the News?

Let’s walk through what the Bible says about how you can have peace with God, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life:

We all have a problem — sin.
Sin separates us from God and leaves us empty, no matter how hard we try to fill the gap.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23

Sin has a consequence — death.
Our sin earns death—eternal separation from God—but God offers the free gift of eternal life through Jesus.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23

God showed His love for us — Jesus.
While we were still sinners, Jesus died in our place to offer forgiveness and new life.
“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

Salvation is received through faith — believe.
God invites us to turn from sin and trust Jesus as Lord; when we believe, we are saved.
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9

Everyone who calls on Him — will be saved.
This promise is for anyone who turns to the Lord in faith.
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13

How Can I Receive This Wonderful Gift?

Salvation isn’t something we earn — and it’s not something we can accomplish on our own. It’s a gift that God gives in His mercy and grace. The Bible tells us that no one seeks God on their own, but that God lovingly draws people to Himself through the power of the gospel.
If you feel the weight of your sin, and a desire to turn to Christ — that’s not from you. That’s God at work in your heart.
So what do you do? The Bible says to repent and believe — to turn away from sin and trust fully in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

You may find yourself praying something like this:
“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You lived, died, and rose again to save me. I turn from my sin and trust You. Please make me new — not because I deserve it, but because You are merciful.”
This prayer doesn’t save — Jesus saves. But if this reflects your heart, talk to Him.
He promises to listen.
